i left england, i was happy it was raining.
from london to singapore i sat next to a man who pretended to sleep for take off – what! – who pretends to sleep for take off?
from singapore to perth i sat next to man who was infinitely more interesting – he told me that the take off/stall speed of a 747 -400 is 175 mph.

Ooops… Event management
A great project to work on, and perhaps my best piece of work to date. A new business that needed an identity, stationery and web site. I designed the logo to reflect the fashion industry (Ooops’ client sector) and from the strong logo the rest of the project grew.
I really enjoyed making this site, fortunately the client had a good selection of photography for me to use, and with a little bit of persuasion I was allowed to build their site entirely in black, white and pink.
The result is a very slick full Flash site (if i do say so myself). -
Disney Channel – Real time TV voting. 2004
Star Ticket
A kids TV equivalent of pop idol, from national auditions to final band this Flash site had to offer live voting and statistics that ran simultaneously with the TV show. The stats also pulled in information of the phone, text, and digital TV votes.
As the show grew I had to design and develop content for competitions, design a logo was the most complicated giving the kids a mini art package to play with.
Due to a huge amount of red tape, it takes 5 days to make a live change on the server, this meant the 10 week show had to run to the second from the beginning. I did this using server clocks and a lot of planning.

Launch launch pop-up – post show siteKids Awards
An industry awards ceremony voted for by the kids. For this project i developed flash content, displayed the information and recorded votes for over 100 acts. My code then had to be integrated with Disney’s data capture procedure. The final show was in front of a live audience of 10,000 and an international TV audience of Millions.

Reuters / JCDecaux
Working with Reuters and JCDecaux, I designed and produced a piece of software that downloads an XML file from the Reuters news server, processes it, downloads the pictures from a different server and lays it all out neatly on sceen at 15 seconds intervals. This was then intergrated with JCDecaux software and their advertising to produce this final application.
Eurostar terminal, Waterloo, London. Here this 5 meter screens displays news to thousands of international and national train passengers every day.
Reuters news display at Heathrow. 9.4 million people pass this screen each year.
A similar application is now used on news screens in offices throughout London. Other features include share price update, that requires 36 digit alpha numeric code, changed every 12 hours on a secure server.

Leningradskoye Optiko Mechanichesckoye Obyedinenie
I love the lomo despite it’s design faults and questionable cult marketing. I love it because it takes better pictures than any of the other cameras i own. The pictures always come out colourful, lot’s of contrast, it takes pictures in the dark, and it’s easy to use when drunk, fucking ace.
Lomo stands for leningradskoye optiko mechanichesckoye obyedinenie, a company that have been around since 1914. situated in the city of St. Petersburg.
Most importantly in 1983 they made a small unreliable camera called the LOMO-compact or LCA. the LCA has been around for years and production was almost stopped completely, fortunately a few young European men, they were German or something, realised the potential of the camera and set about securing its future, a task that took them around Russia including a meeting with former KGB spy Vladimir Putin whom in August 1999 was named Russian prime minister. cool. anyway so lomo said we can’t shift enough of them, and these guys said easy we’ll just make it cool and kitsch, the Japanese will love it and before long you can sell millions of your over priced unreliable Russian tins over the entire planet. The idea was so good there are now lomo embassy and galleries just about every where.
